Computer Science and Engineering Graduate Programs

Students

The Computer Science & Engineering (CSE) Department at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (UNL) offers graduate programs in computer science and computer engineering leading to master and doctoral degrees.  These graduate programs increase students’ breadth of knowledge and develop depth of expertise in a sub-field of computer science and engineering.

Our goal is to build a foundation for future scientific discovery, engineering innovation, and scholarly and professional achievement.

The CSE Department offers the following graduate degree programs:

  • MS in Computer Science
  • PhD in Computer Science
  • Engineering PhD in Computer Engineering
  • PhD in CS with Bioinformatics Specialization
  • Joint PhD in Computer Science and Mathematics

The vision of the department is to conduct state of the art research in computer science and engineering; and educate students with skill, knowledge, creativity, and vision to be leaders in exploring new frontiers in computing and information technology.

Opportunities and Funding

The graduate programs offer opportunities for students to develop teaching skills in support of undergraduate instruction and to enhance research skills in support of the Department’s active research programs. We offer Teaching and Research Assistantships each year, and many applicants qualify for our various Graduate Fellowships including the Klarner Fellowhip & Graduate Assistance in Areas of National Need (GAANN) Fellowship for domestic applicants.
