Student Organizations

ACM

The student chapter of the Association for Computing Machinery (ACM), was founded over a decade ago and is one of the most influential organizations of the Computer Science and Engineering Department at UNL. Founded in 1947, ACM is the largest and oldest international scientific and educational computer society in the industry today. Since its inception ACM has provided its members and the world of computer science a forum for the sharing of knowledge on developments and achievements necessary to the fruitful interchange of ideas. More information on becoming a member can be found by visiting the ACM website.

hlug

The purpose of Husker Linux User Group (HLUG) is to provide support for Linux and it's applications, connect Linux users in the area, and expose others to alternative computing solutions they may not be aware of. The group has various events such as installfests, and has a regular mailing list open to everyone.

For more information or to become a member of the group, contact Cesar Delgado.

awc

The aim of the Association for Women in Computing (AWC) is to encourage, promote, and serve the interests of women in computing; to address the unique issues and challenges that women in this field may face; and to provide a means of communication between individuals who share a common interest in the field of computing.

Because this is an association for women in computing, rather than an association of women in computing, membership in AWC is not restricted to individuals in computer engineering or computer science fields, or even to women. If you are interested in becoming a member of AWC, please contact Jodi Holt.

ASUN
The Association of Students of the University of Nebraska (ASUN) is the governing body for UNL students. There are literally hundreds of involvement opportunities within ASUN. We serve as the representative voice for UNL students. The organization works by gathering input from all students, advocating student concerns to administration, and providing student services, ultimately working to improve the campus and enhance student life. More information and opportunities can be found on the ASUN website.

The UNL office of Student Involvement has additional information on a number of activities, clubs, volunteer opportunities and campus employment. Visit Student Involvement today.
