RIS – Software Development Student

Job Description:

The Research Information Systems (RIS) team is looking for a student worker to assist with software development. Work will entail the entire software development life cycle; including analysis, design, implementation, testing and maintenance. Focus will be on expanding the main electronic research administration (eRA) system called NUgrant; a Web-based application using PHP and Microsoft’s SQL Server. Explore new technologies and programming practices; sharing ideas with the RIS team to further develop its effectiveness. Strong communication, organizational and interpersonal skills are a must along with excellent research and analytical skills. A willingness and ability to work both independently and within a strong team environment is critical. Experience working on software projects that include Web development, relational databases, scripting and object oriented programming languages is desired, but not required; this includes PHP and/or Java, HTML, XML, JavaScript, CSS and MSSQL or MySQL. Familiarity with the Eclipse IDE, Subversion, and Apache httpd is a plus. This is an excellent opportunity to grow your programming and analytical skills, along with gaining real world experience and application.

Google Summer of Code 2012

JPF is a highly customizable execution environment for verification of Java? bytecode programs. The system was developed at the NASA Ames Research Center, open

The two main job responsibilities would be:

Velocity System Engineer/System Consultant
Program Overview:
The Velocity System Engineer/Consultant Training Program is designed to help new associates develop the skills and capabilities necessary to be successful System Engineers. During training associates will gain an understanding of Cerner technologies and will learn the fundamental components of configuring systems and software.
Responsibilities:
Velocity System Engineers/Consultants design, install, implement, and provide technical support for Cerner application software. Velocity Professional Services Consultant
Program Overview:
The Velocity Professional Services Consultant (PSC) training program is designed to help new associates develop the skills and capabilities necessary to be successful Cerner Consultants.
