Summary
This summary should include at least the following (a) an overview of the topic – motivations and underlying principles, etc., (b) a list of praises: a description of what you think are the important/useful aspects of the topic, (c) a list of critiques: a description of what you think are the weaknesses of the topic, (d) a list of wishes: what areas of the topic do you think that should be improved, and (e) a list of questions on material that you did not understand from the lectures and textbook. NOTE: These lists should be about the topic, not about the way the topic is presented in the class.
Some ideas: What are the different types of logic? What are the differences? What is the Belief-Desire-Intention (BDI) model? What does coordination logic do? What do theories in communications do? What are social primitives?
See Q&As (November 13, 2002; November 12, 2003) on our class Website to learn about some of the questions and answers.
Stupid Questions
Suppose that you are a movie director and you have vast knowledge on what humans logically do when they are emotional or irrational or being illogical. Now, you have to formulate a “logical guideline” for your actors and actresses in terms of what you want them to act out when their characters are already in an emotional state—i.e., angry, sad, confused, happy, frustrated, and neutral—right before the following events occur (1) on finding out that he/she has just won a Powerball jackpot lottery, (2) on finding out he/she has just lost his/her lifesavings, and (3) on finding out his/her friend has just won a Powerball jackpot lottery. Give some logical rules as examples to your logical guideline and discuss what in general you will need to include to condition your logical rules and qualify additional states.
Requirement
You are required to write a 1-2 page topic summary. You will be penalized for writing more than 2 pages. You are required to follow one of the styles (ACM, IEEE, or AAAI) posted at the class’ website. The summary must be typed. Turn in the summary at the beginning of the class.
At the end of your topic summary, add another section “Response to Stupid Questions” for your response to the above stupid question. Be creative and consider as many issues as possible.
Your topic summary will be graded based on:
10% Overview
15% Praises
15% Critiques
15% Wishes
15% Questions
15% Response to Stupid Questions
10% Grammar and Errors
5% Requirements
